Barker Ellis (BE - S Co) Lucky Horseshoe with Birmingham Silver Marks and Lion Passant
Nothing cooler than a vintage lucky horseshoe to keep in your pocket for whenever you need it! Plus it comes form one of the premier silversmiths of the 20th Century. How did we find this out? Well, this one took some research. So this lucky horseshoe is Marked with the Letters BE over S Co which belongs to The silversmith Barker Ellis. The CC on either side of the anchor indicates bi-centennial of the Birmingham Assay Office (1973). The lion passant indicates the high quality of silver used and one of the few passants Birmingham will allow. I cannot find the meaning for the third ("branch with fruit"?) image in the markings.
